ProPath works perfectly in an installation where the application and/or the data is loaded from a network share or drive.

 

All you need to do is use one of the ProPath variations that stores the path to the MAIN data in a place that the user can change.

 

In our Common Configuration Examples, this would be #2, #4 or #5.

 

 

When the program is first ran on the workstation, the First Run Technology will detect this and open the Path Selection procedure.

The user will use the file dialog to browse to the Network share or drive as shown in this example:

The path to the Network share is returned to the Path Select procedure as shown here:

This value gets stored on the Workstation by ProPath like any other location value.

 

When the application restarts it looks to the location where ProPath tells it to find the path to the MAIN data location, and sets the value to that.

 

Everything else is just the same as it would be on a local install with local data.
