Developers who use FileManager 3 from CapeSoft (and you should be using this product!) should read the section in the FM3 docs that talks about blob storage.

 

CapeSoft recommends using an external file for blob storage and the ProScan blob automation fits this guideline.  The only difference is that we store a few bits of information about the TIFF files in our external blob file.  This is of little consequence since if the blob file was damaged the data would have no practical value.

 

CapeSoft recommends setting the properties of the external blob file with FM3IGNORE.

 

As of ProScan version 1.2, if you import the PSBlob.txd file this is set for you.  Earlier version users should check this setting and add it if needed.

 

See the FM3 docs for more info, but in a nutshell this setting tells FM3 to pretend that our blob file does not exist.

 

This is important since FM3 does not upgrade blob info and otherwise your stored images would be lost!
