ProTOML

Modern structured data for Clarion applications

Clarion 5.5+ ABCLegacy New

Create, read, store, and exchange structured TOML data directly from ordinary Clarion fields, GROUPs, QUEUEs, and FILE record buffers.

ProTOML gives Clarion developers a direct way to create, read, store, and exchange structured TOML data from Clarion applications.

Instead of forcing increasingly complex information into flat INI files or inventing a custom text format, ProTOML lets applications work with a standardized, human-readable structured document.

Made for Clarion

The normal ProTOML interface is designed around the data structures Clarion developers already use.

ProTOML works with:

  • ordinary STRING and numeric values
  • Boolean values
  • dates and times
  • GROUP structures
  • QUEUE structures
  • FILE RECORD buffers

Existing structures do not need to be declared BINDABLE just to use ProTOML. Optional Clarion NAME attributes can be used when stable or more descriptive names are wanted in the resulting TOML.

Store structured information where it makes sense

A TOML document created by ProTOML can be kept in memory, stored in a MEMO or BLOB, written to a standard .toml file, or exchanged with another application or service.

High-level and low-level access

For normal Clarion development, ProTOML includes a supplied Clarion template and high-level wrapper. Developers who need lower-level control can also use the underlying DLL API.

A working Clarion source demo is included with the product. It is not a public downloadable demo.
